Johnny Cash...
It maybe that I'm pushing 40 or that I'm finally getting a taste for a little Johnny. I remember hearing Johnny Cash on my Dad's record player when I was a kid. It sounded like really bad country music (twangy and hillbilly). But have you heard from him in the last couple of years? It really doesn't sound that bad..kinda' like Americana or something like that. My favorites now are "Hurt" - a cover from Nine Inch Nails, "Personal Jesus", "When the Man comes around", and the new one "God's gonna cut you down." There are some real deep (theological) thoughts in those songs. I guess it's coming with the age or something, there's just something about that raw, aged, voice of Johnny that rings out beyond all the thinly-written stuff out there these days. What are your thoughts on Johnny?
